Friendly Preview: Central Coast v City

Your City boys will continue to ramp up their preparations for the new A-League Men’s season with a pre-season friendly against Central Coast on Saturday morning.

The friendly marks the conclusion of a week-long training camp in New South Wales, as Patrick Kisnorbo’s squad have been hard at work despite a change of scenery.

While unfortunately the fixture, which kicks off at 10am, will not be livestreamed, you can follow live updates across our Twitter and other social channels.

Now over two months into pre-season, the team will be looking forward to another chance to get out onto the pitch for a proper hitout against A-League Men’s level opposition.

It provides a chance for players to prove themselves to Kisnorbo and his coaching staff ahead of City’s fast-approaching season opener against Western United on Friday 7 October, with a number of players a chance to feature for the first time in City blue.

Dutch midfielder Richard van der Venne is now fully recovered from a niggle sustained early in pre-season and has been training well in recent weeks.

Fellow new foreigners Thomas Lam and Valon Berisha have now both had a number of sessions with their new teammates and also will come into the selection mix on Saturday.

In some further exciting news for just City fans, Aiden O’Neill has returned to training and in contention to play on Saturday.

Although ultimately these kind of pre-season matches count for little more than a chance to build match fitness and test new tactics, City will be looking to put in a strong performance after going down 2-0 to the same opponent a couple of weeks ago.
