International City: Brattan replaces Luongo in Socceroos

International City: Brattan replaces Luongo in Socceroos

City midfielder Luke Brattan has been given a late call up to the Socceroos’ side to take on Thailand in their next 2018 World Cup Qualifier, replacing the injured Massimo Luongo.

After being named in the 30-man preliminary squad for the crucial qualifier, Brattan initially missed out on making his first national team appearance since early 2015 but the injury to the QPR midfielder sees Ange Postecoglou recall the City midfield Maestro.

His outstanding start to the season has seen our number 26 return to the national team radar, scoring against Melbourne Victory in the Round 2 and Westfield FFA Cup Semi Final matches but also playing an important role in the competitive City engine room.

Brattan will immediately travel to Bangkok to join the squad in preparation for the contest next Tuesday, missing out on Thursday night’s Round 6 clash with Newcastle Jets.
