John Maisano joins City as Academy NPL Senior Head Coach

Melbourne City FC can today confirm the appointment of John Maisano as the Academy’s NPL Senior Head Coach.

Maisano boasts a strong resume and will bring a wealth of football knowledge and experience to City’s Academy. He replaces Petr Kratky who was recently promoted to the Senior Men’s squad as Assistant Coach under Patrick Kisnorbo.

Maisano joins from NPL club Bulleen Lions where he has been Head Coach since 2018 and was also Technical Director of the under-18 and 20 teams.

As a player, Maisano had a long career in Australia and abroad, representing Australia at youth World Cups and the Olympics. He also played in Italy’s Serie A, as well as spending time in the Netherlands and Belgium’s top-tier.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football Michael Petrillo said:

“John comes to us as an experienced NPL coach with a strong playing background and the knowledge of what it takes as a young player to make it to the top.

“It’s vital that our Academy has the best coaching staff to work with our young talented players.

“John takes over the fantastic work done by Petr Kratky and will continue to work closely with our A-Leagues coaches to develop the next crop of Melbourne City players. We welcome John to the Melbourne City family.”
