The date is now set – the Melbourne Derby replay will happen on Wednesday 5 April.
This follows the abandonment of the original fixture back in December and we’re sure you have plenty of questions about what to expect next Wednesday night at AAMI Park, so let’s break it down…
SQUADS & STARTING XI’s
Both teams will start with a clean slate and submit new starting XI and substitute lists that can include any player that is registered as of Wednesday 5 April.
MATCH CLOCK & SCORELINE
The match clock will resume at 21:00 with a score line of 1-0 to City after Aiden O’Neill’s fantastic 11th-minute goal gave us the lead last December.
HOW WILL THE GAME RESUME?
At 7:00pm (AEST) the match will begin – or resume if you’d like – but there won’t be a coin toss or kick-off. We’ll defend the Northern goal and Victory the Southern, with the match restarting with a drop-ball to our goalkeeper.
WILL ANY STOPPAGES CARRY OVER?
Any additional time for that first half will only be calculated from the 22nd minute, meaning no stoppage time will be carried over from the original December fixture.
MINI HOMESTAND
With the Melbourne Derby replay being rescheduled for next Wednesday night, we’ll now play three home games in the space of eight days.
It presents a fantastic opportunity for City fans to create a fortress at AAMI Park with a huge nine points up for grabs in the race for the Premiers Plate.
