REACTION: Appreciation for the greatest goal scorer

Jamie Maclaren became the greatest goal scorer in A-Leagues history when he netted goal number 143 with his third against Western United on Saturday night. 

Following the phenomenal achievement, which saw him surpass Besart Berisha, the football community was quick to show their appreciation for our star number 9.

Andrew Nabbout was buzzing for his teammate and friend. ‘There’s no one that deserves it more… he’s the greatest striker in Australian football history’ he said following Maclaren’s achievement. Skipper Scott Jamieson reflected on his hard-working and humble teammate. 

Scott Galloway shared City’s ‘ALL-TIME’ graphic on his Instagram story with the words ‘the best there ever was! 👑🐐 Congratulations brother ❤️’, Marco Tilio sharing the same graphic, expressing that it ‘doesn’t get much better then this!!!’. As Richard van der Venne shared an image of him and Maclaren, reading ‘hatrick hero and all-time topscorer!  🏆 Congrats mate! 👏👏👏’ 

Former City star, Rebekah Stott, commented ‘Unreal! 👏🙌’ as Jamie re-watched the goal that etched his name in history.
