Team News: City squads locked in for home opener

A-Leagues football returns to AAMI Park this weekend and both City squads will be in action for a big doubleheader to kick it all off!

Our City Women are already a week into their season after securing a hard-fought three points across the ditch in Wellington last weekend.

Saturday marks the beginning of the season for our Men’s side, although it won’t be the first time City fans will see our 2023/24 squad on the pitch, with a number of Australia Cup and AFC Champions League fixtures already under our belt.

The action begins at 2:45pm when Dario VIdosic’s side host Canberra United as they look to begin the new campaign with back-to-back wins.

Rado Vidosic’s Men’s squad will then take centre stage against Western United for their season-opener.

Both Head Coaches have now named their squads for the doubleheader.

Dario Vidosic has promoted four players to his extended squad to take on Canberra, while a strong Men’s squad has been named for our season opener.

Mathew Leckie has been included after injuring his knee in a September Socceroos camp, but young goalkeeper James Nieuwenhuizen is set to miss the beginning of the season after suffering a hamstring injury during the week.
