Team News: Squad locked in for ALW home opener

Melbourne City will play at home for the first time this A-League Women’s season on Saturday afternoon when it welcomes Brisbane Roar to Casey Fields.

City began its campaign with a strong performance across the ditch in Wellington, bringing all three points back to Melbourne after an impressive 4-1 win.

Rhianna Pollicina found the back of the net twice, while Maria Jose Rojas and Bryleeh Henry were also on the scoresheet in what were impressive City debuts for the attacking duo.

Dario Vidosic led the team on that day and will continue to do so after being appointed as interim Head Coach following a reshuffle in the clubs coaching ranks.

He’s now named his squad for Saturday’s clash, with both captain Emma Checker and Caitlin Karic included.

Checker missed the season opener with a knee injury but has been training strongly and is in contention to return to the line-up.
