Melbourne City and Matildas star Holly McNamara has capped off a sensational season by claiming the 2024/25 A-League Women’s Golden Boot, finishing with 15 goals in just 17 appearances.
The 22-year-old’s achievement is quite remarkable, given she missed the opening five games of the campaign while recovering from her ACL injury.
Since her return, McNamara has been clinical in attack, both off the bench during her return and now from the starting XI – starting nine of her 17 appearances this A-Leagues season.
This marks McNamara’s first A-League Women’s Golden Boot award and adds to what has already been a historic season for City.
Her contributions were vital as the team secured the Premiers Plate in dominant fashion, completing an Invincible regular season with a 5-1 win over Perth Glory on Friday night – becoming the first side to go unbeaten through a full home-and-away campaign.
With the Ninja A-League Finals Series on the horizon and a massive AFC Women’s Champions League Semi Final ahead, McNamara will be looking to continue her red-hot form and help lead City to even more silverware.
McNamara’s Golden Boot isn’t the only A-League Women’s Player Ranking that was won by a City player following the conclusion of the regular season.
Lourdes Bosch led the league in assists, registering nine assists, three ahead of Rhianna Pollicina in second place (six assists) and four ahead of Leticia McKenna (five assists) – showcasing City’s attacking prowess during a season where the team netted 56 goals in 23 appearances.

While skipper Rebekah Stott completed the most passes in the league, completing an impressive 1,546 passes in 20 games. Stott’s central defensive partner, Taylor Otto, completed the second most, with 1,488 passes in 23 games.
