Souprayen signs on for third season at City

Samuel Souprayen will extend his time in Melbourne by another year after signing on for the 2025/26 A-League Men’s season.

The experienced defender has been a consistent and composed figure across his two seasons in Melbourne, making 51 appearances and scoring three goals since joining the Club.

This season, Souprayen played a key role in helping City finish with the league’s best defensive record.

He featured in all but one of the team’s first 22 fixtures, starting on 20 occasions and forming strong partnerships at the back with both Kai Trewin and Germán Ferreyra.

Although an injury sidelined him in the closing stages of the campaign, Souprayen’s leadership and impact were felt throughout.

Melbourne City FC Director of Football, Michael Petrillo, said:

“Samuel has been a reliable and hugely important part of our defence over the past two seasons, so we’re pleased to have him back at the Club for another year.

“We’re expecting to see even more young players involved in our first team next season, so the experience and leadership of players like Samuel will be crucial as we look to build on this year’s success.”

Samuel Souprayen said:

“Since my arrival, Melbourne City has felt like home, and I’m excited to return for another season with the Club.

“While it was disappointing not to be out on the pitch with my teammates for the Grand Final, I’m incredibly proud of everything we achieved this season and will be doing everything I can to help us reach even greater heights next season.”
