Flying high in second place on the table, Heart is in unchartered territory, poised to mount a concerted challenge to secure a double chance in the Hyundai A-League Finals Series with half the season remaining.
However, despite the Club-s unprecedented form, van ‘t Schip says his side must focus on the challenges which loom on the horizon, with a particular emphasis on ensuring the team execute its tactical plan on a match-to-match basis.
“It’s not that we are not capable of playing any team here and having problems, I think we have to look at ourselves and make sure that we do our things on the pitch and then we’re a team that’s very difficult to beat,” he said.
“We have to see game by game, it’s now just (about) making sure that we continue in the way that we’re playing, trying to get even better with the way we play.”
With the Heart squad among the youngest in the Hyundai A-League, van ‘t Schip is adamant his side is capable of demonstrating further improvement over the second half of the campaign.
And while the side has won its last five matches in succession, van ‘t Schip is eager for Heart to take the next step and begin asserting further control across the park.
“We have shown that we play against all the teams now and they were all competitive (matches) and we had all good results except against Central Coast,” he said.
“There’s a lot of improvement still to be made and my main goal is to improve the way of playing.
“We do these things that we did in the beginning of the year and we do the same now only that you see that there’s growth in the team.”
