Holiday program
Football is globally celebrated as the ‘World game’, where people of all backgrounds can come together and use the universal language of football. In 2015 Melbourne City started the I Speak Football Project, bringing youths from a diverse range of cultures and upbringings together to help them address the isolation issue in today’s society whilst educating important life skills and having fun.
Earlier this month the ‘I Speak Football Project’ held numerous events throughout the school holiday’s where once again the project continued to blossom.
City conducted two school holiday clinics in both Bundoora and Fitzroy where over fifty kids took part in each event.

‘I Speak Football’ tournament
Last week City held the ‘I Speak Football’ tournament where over one hundred and fifty youths from around Melbourne came together to participate in the tournament.
It was a fantastic day where groups from numerous communities worked together as a team and improved their skills.
As much as the tournament was about playing football, it was a great opportunity for young people to meet new friends and create new relationships whilst having fun in a safe and uplifting environment.
Home Work Club
City’s brand-new program the Home Work Club kicked off earlier this week. The project is designed to guide and support grade five and six primary school students with after-school homework and activities.
The weekly program consists of La Trobe university students spending time with the kids in the class room, helping them with any troubles they might be having with their work and incorporating that with 30 minutes of football activities.
Around twenty kids took part in the very first session, with over thirty kids also being registered for the Home Work Club. It is a terrific chance for La Trobe university students to give back whilst improving the future leaders of our community.
