Melbourne City is excited to celebrate several international call-ups, headlined by Isiah Boston, Jonty Benfield, and Mathew Baker all set to represent their countries at the AFC U17 Asian Cup.
Boston and Benfield have earned selection in the Joeys squad for the upcoming AFC U17 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. Head Coach Brad Maloney has named the City pair in his 23-player squad, with the tournament running from April 3 to April 20.
Boston has impressed with his defensive abilities and composure on the ball, while goalkeeper Benfield’s strong performances in the City Academy have been rewarded with a national team nod.
The Joeys are drawn into Group B and will face Vietnam on April 4, the United Arab Emirates on April 7, and Japan on April 10. The top eight teams from the tournament will qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year, adding further significance to the competition.
In addition to Boston and Benfield’s selection, City’s Mathew Baker will also feature at the AFC U17 Asian Cup, representing Indonesia. Baker has earned his spot through consistent performances and will be aiming to make a strong impact in the prestigious tournament.
Meanwhile, on the domestic front, City’s Shelby McMahon and Alexia Apostolakis have been named in the Young Matildas squad for a training camp in Sydney.

The camp will provide a valuable opportunity for both players to continue their development alongside some of the nation’s most promising young talents.
Apostolakis has been a standout performer for City throughout the Ninja A-League season, while McMahon has continued to showcase her potential in numerous appearances off the bench.
Congratulations to all five City players on their international call-ups!
