Melbourne City FC forward Larissa Crummer found the back of the net as the Westfield Matildas began their Asian Cup preparations with a 5-0 demolition of Thailand in Perth on Monday night.
The Matildas turned on the style in their first ever match in Western Australia as Alex Chidiac, Chloe Logarzo and Lisa De Vanna joined Crummer on the score-sheet in the comprehensive win.
A striker by trade, Crummer’s attacking instincts were on display despite the 21-year-old lining up in the unfamiliar position of right-back for Alen Stajcic’s side; an experiment that paid dividends on the scoreboard as Crummer also notched an assist for Alex Chidiac’s opener.
City stars Alanna Kennedy – who played a key role in the fifth goal as her header struck Crummer before finding the net – and Lydia Williams were solid in defence on the way to another clean sheet, while midfielder Aivi Luik made a successful return to the Matildas’ set-up after coming on as a substitute in the 76th minute.

Regular internationals Steph Catley and Kyah Simon were absent as they continue their recovery from injury.
Australia will now turn their attention to next month’s Asian Cup in Jordan. The Matildas must finish in the top five at the eight-nation event to qualify for the World Cup.
