We are happy to today confirm Olyroos call-ups for defender Jordan Bos and midfielder Taras Gomulka ahead of the upcoming AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifiers. This marks the first under-23 call-up for both players, who last week departed Melbourne for Dubai. Gomulka has made 13 Isuzu UTE A-League appearances, including eight in his first season at City in 2020/21. Bos is still awaiting his senior debut but has impressed since joining the Club’s Academy in 2016 and recently signed a contract extension until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Melbourne City FC can today confirm the appointment of John Maisano as the Academy’s NPL Senior Head Coach. Maisano boasts a strong resume and will bring a wealth of football knowledge and experience to City’s Academy. He replaces Petr Kratky who was recently promoted to the Senior Men's squad as Assistant Coach under Patrick Kisnorbo. Maisano joins from NPL club Bulleen Lions where he has been Head Coach since 2018 and was also Technical Director of the under-18 and 20 teams.
We can today announce the winners from our recent FIFA 22 competition. Star striker Jamie Maclaren is City's highest rated player on this years edition of the popular video-game, and the five lucky City fans below have gotten their hands on a free PlayStation 5 copy.
We can today confirm the details of our Round of 32 FFA Cup fixture following this afternoon’s announcement from Football Australia. We’ll travel to Lakeside Stadium to play South Melbourne on Friday 12 November with kick-off set for 7.30pm. It’ll be the first ever meeting between the two sides, and City’s first competitive fixture of season 2021/22. At this stage we are awaiting advice from the Victorian Government regarding whether a crowd will be allowed, but we remain hopeful that City fans will be able to attend the fixture.

We confirmed our final A-League Women signings earlier this month, and now we’ve got all of the squad numbers for you! Our returning seven players from last season will all be seen with the same numbers on their backs in 2021/22, headlining them is Captain Emma Checker in number ‘15’. Rebekah Stott will once again take up the ‘13’ shirt she had previously worn throughout her time at the Club where she won four Championships and two Premierships.
City’s Academy has been a production line of talent for Australia’s national teams for years now, and that trend doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. Midfield young gun Connor Metcalfe in June made his Socceroos debut, doing so in the same game as Denis Genreau after the pair spent years coming through the ranks of City’s Academy together. The duo joined Daniel Arzani as City Academy products to have represented Australia at senior level - and looking at the recent Olyroos Olympics squad - you’d imagine there will be plenty more in years to come.
Melbourne City FC is happy to announce the re-signing of Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo until the end of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. Kisnorbo’s first season in charge of City’s Men’s squad couldn’t have been any more successful, leading the team to both the Premiership and Championship. He remained at the Club following his playing retirement in 2016 and previously coached both City’s Youth and Women’s team before taking up the role as Men’s Head Coach last season.
Melbourne City FC can today announce changes to its coaching team ahead of the new season. Assistant Coach Des Buckingham will depart the Club to take up the role of Head Coach at City Football Group sister club, Mumbai City FC.
A little over 18 months ago Tom Glover was City’s number two goalkeeper – but circumstances can change very quickly in football. Today, he is not only the Club’s number one, but an Australian Olympian and owner of A-League Mens Premiership and Championship medallions. Glover joined City little over two years ago, but the former Tottenham youth shot stopper didn’t simply walk into the starting XI.
