Melbourne City FC will select its second e-League player in the inaugural e-League draft on Thursday as it begins its campaign in the competition.
The Club made headlines in August signing the country’s first official FIFA eSports player in Gomes and since then, the Australian eSports scene has boomed, culminating in the creation of Football Federation Australia’s e-League.
Gomes will represent City on the XBOX console however a second eSports player on PS4 will be selected in the e-League draft to be held at 6.30pm on Thursday 1 February.
All ten A-League Clubs will be involved in the draft with those teams who have already signed a player outside of the draft obliged to sign one more for the second console.
The draft order is determined by the A-League side’s league position after Round 12 of the 2017/18 season with Melbourne City allocated the third pick of the draft.
